Olive's Milk
Since antiquity, it seems probable
that from around the world,
every language and people group
grasp at bread:
bread is a common language,
a children’s pacifier,
a peace lily’s bloom,
painted with the olive’s milk,
the horn of a wild ox when from wheat berry ground,
with notes of rosemary’s blue oil,
its flour like snow,
melting in the leagues of cornflower,
dissolving insult . . .
